Meanwhile, Georgetown is coming off a three-point home victory over DePaul, and the college basketball odds the visiting Pirates as a -6 point favorite over the Hoyas.

Join me as I break down the college basketball odds with a free college basketball pick for Seton Hall vs. Georgetown on Tuesday, January 9.

Seton Hall vs. Georgetown Best Bets

Seton Hall has faced four consecutive top 45 programs on the KenPom ranking list. They’ve won three of those four and roll into the District of Columbia riding a two-game winning streak, including consecutive victories over Providence and Marquette.

Georgetown has recently played some top competition of their own but had some rough outings at Butler and Marquette and was also blown out two games ago at home by Creighton. They did bounce back with a three-point home victory against Depaul but are 1-3 in the Big East.

One thing both teams have in common is a seeming lack of defensive intensity. The Pirates rank 85th on KenPoms chart, but ShotQuality claims Seton Hall is a group that forces a lot of turnovers and plays good defense at the rim but allows too many triples.

Georgetown is one of the worst defensive teams in the nation. They play bad shooting defense from inside the arc but are above average at defending the three-point line. They don’t rebound well at all on the defensive end of the floor and allow 72.8 points per game.

FanDuel Maryland has 140.5 points on the board, and the best bet for this game is Over 140.5 (-110).

We have a game where Georgetown needs to win, and Seton Hall could suffer a letdown after consecutive victories against top-ranked competition. The Hoyas are a good three-point shooting team, accounting for 34% of their points. They can rip and face a Pirates three-point defense that is below-average at best. The Hoyas can shoot and also hit the offensive glass at an above-average rate.

The Pirates will counter with a bigger offense and just go out and outscore the Hoyas. Georgetown has the worst-rated defense in the Big East, surrenders 72.1 points per game, and has allowed 72+ in three of their last four.

Finally, the tempo will be there. Georgetown plays fast, and Seton Hall has no trouble running the floor. According to ShotQuality, Seton Hall forces plenty of swipes, and the Pirates turn into an average of 14.9 points per game. That will be enough to send this one Over the total.

My best bet: Over 140.5 (-110) at FanDuel
