Mark Andrews Expected to Practice Wednesday – Baltimore Large Favorites at Betfred

Baltimore Ravens fans received some good news Monday ahead of Sunday’s season opener with the Houston Texans. According to Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh, tight End Mark Andrews will return to practice Wednesday after missing six consecutive practices with an unspecified injury.

Harbaugh addressed the Andrews injury situation with a group of reporters on Monday;

 “We’re still not pushing the panic button. We should see him out there on Wednesday,” Harbaugh said.

That’s good news for Maryland sports betting fans and Ravens fans. Baltimore is currently a -10 (-110) favorite at Betfred. The oddsmaker expects a low-scoring game and offers a total of 43.5 points (-110).

Andrews is a key part of the Baltimore offense. Andrews led the Ravens with 847 receiving yards with five TDs last season and has been quarterback Lamar Jackson’s go-to guy for the past five seasons.

Baltimore upgraded its wide receiver room this offseason, adding wideouts Odell Beckham Jr., Roshod Bateman, and Nelson Agholar. None of those mentioned above Ravens played even one snap during the preseason, but Harbaugh looks forward to seeing them all in action Sunday.

“Any of us who care about the Ravens are excited to see all the guys out there on the field together,” Harbaugh said. “There’s an element of, ‘We don’t know.’ We haven’t seen it yet at all in a game situation. I’m as excited as everybody else is to see it happen.”

Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens Betting Advice

10 points might be too many for this contest, but Under 43.5 is a good number, as this should be a low-scoring affair on Sunday.

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson missed the last five games of the regular season. He didn’t dress for any preseason games, and it could take some time for him and his new teammates to form enough chemistry to hang a big number on an improving Texans defense.

Houston opens the season with a new coach and a new starting QB. DeMarco Ryans is the third coach in as many seasons for Houston. Ryans’ was hired to replace Lovie Smith this offseason, and Ryans named rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud as his opening-day starter.

Stroud was the No. 2 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The former Ohio State All-American threw for over 8,000 yards and 85 scoring strikes during his three seasons with the Buckeyes. Stroud completed 55% of his passes for 89 yards with a TD and one interception during the preseason and, on Sunday, faces one of the best defenses in the NFL.

Something else to consider for the Under. Ravens backup QB Tyler Huntley injured his hamstring during Baltimore’s August 11 preseason game with New England and hasn’t played since. Harbaugh told reporters he would wait until Wednesday to announce his backup status–the Ravens re-signed Josh Johnson last Thursday, making Johnson the backup if something happened to Jackson.
