In a statement, Crab Sports CEO Derek Baker said the company is excited to bring its experience to Charm City.
Crab Sports will offer competitive odds and betting options on all major sports both online and at retail partner Jimmy’s Famous Seafood.
Crab Sports will aim to differentiate itself in Maryland through unique in-person experiences and rewards programs. This includes appearances by their signature betting crab mascot for customers.
Crab Sports Joins a Blossoming Maryland Sports Betting Industry
Maryland has seen immense sports betting growth since becoming the 19th state to legalize wagering in November 2021.
Sports betting officially launched on December 8, 2021, with retail sportsbooks opening at casinos and racetracks. Online sports betting in MD followed shortly after in January 2022.
In less than a year since its launch, Maryland has become a top 10 sports betting market in the country in terms of handle.
Since the state legalized retail and online sports betting in December 2021, Maryland betting apps have handled over $4 billion in wagers and generated $160 million in revenue as of January 2023.
This includes major operators like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and Caesars already competing in the state.
